Lazaros Sohos (sculptor)

He was born in 1862, at Isternia.
He studies in Constantinople, Athens and Paris. In 1908 he becomes a teacher at the School of Fine Arts in Athens. Using themes inspired from nature and antiquity, he creates sculptured masterpieces.
His works are distinguished for their romantic realism, while there is influence from the works of Rodin. Among his greatest creations are: Kolokotronis, which was awarded a prize by the School of Fine Arts in Rome, the memorials for Pavlos Melas and Andreas Syngros, the bust of Adamantios Korais, which is in France etc. Lazaros Sochos draws his last breath in 1911.
