Lazaros Lameras (sculptor)
He comes from Isternia, but was born in Athens in 1913.
His family had a tradition in marble sculpture. But it was the works of Chalepas, which he acquaints himself with during his summer holidays on Tinos, that are the decisive reason for his engagement with sculpture. He studies at the School of Fine Arts of Athens and continues in Paris. In 1957 he is elected member of the International Institute of Arts and Letters and participates in many group exhibitions both in Greece and abroad. He creates mainly memorials, busts, war monuments and tombs. As an artist - teacher he is open to experimentation. As a result, he is the first sculptor who exhibits abstract works in Greece. Characteristic examples are: the Resurrection, the Musical Instrument, mount Penteli etc.
